Canon Character Application
Character name: Kiku Honda
Age: "A Secret"

Height: 5'4
Weight:132 lbs
Appearance:
Given that Kiku Honda is of slight a short stature his physical appearance would not exactly be describe as masculine. He is however very good looking in a gentle, mysterious way. Although Kiku is of a slim build that is not to say he has no visible muscle as he trains daily in the way of various martial arts, including the art of the katana. Kiku has short cut raven hair and dark, mysterious eyes. His skin in milky pale; a result of spending much time away from the sun.
Kiku is often seen wearing a kimono - a traditional Japanese garment. His Kimono is simple in design and black in colour which reaches just above his ankles. It is made from thin cotton so he does not feel affected by any changes in the environment. The shirt which Kiku wears over his plain black kimono is much more elaborate. It is a rich violet in colour with long draping sleeves and gold detailed stitching. Over his shirt Kiku’s Priest’s necklace hangs. It is adorned with pearls and gold tassels. Tied around his waist Kiku has a gold plaited belt. Kiku carries a Priest’s staff; a thin ornate gold pole ending in a circular shape, which in turns has many gold rings attached. In addition to his staff, Kiku also carries a decorative katana which hang low at his hip. Kiku also wears a conical straw hat or sugegasa to shield him from the sun. When he is not wearing his hat, Kiku hangs it around his neck by a thin piece of silk so that it rests on his upper back. Upon his feet Kiku wears thin white socks and simple sandals.

Kiku is considered by most people as quiet, shy, respectful and serious. Kiku has a strong work ethic and believes that one must work hard to receive the benefits. A reason for Kiku apparent muteness is because he constantly analysing or assessing the situation at hand. Kiku is a capable battle strategist. Kiku believes that one should ‘always proceed with caution’.
Kiku is fast to adapt to changing situations and is often prepared if plans go awry (although he relies on his plans not going awry). Kiku has the ability to turn a difficult situation into one that benefits him and his allies.
Kiku is a positive soul who tries to see the best in everyone, giving encouragement when needed and congratulating others on their achievements. Kiku is not easily jealous and is constantly striving to prove his worth to others. He is also very respectful and polite and this comes across in the way he addresses others.

Kiku is squeamish when it comes to creepy crawlies. He especially hates earwigs and gets to a point where he can cry over them.
However much he denies that he has a family, Kiku greatly cares for them and they are perhaps his greatest weakness of all.
Despite acting maturely in contrast with his young appearance Kiku is very naïve. He can be easily tricked and led astray and is often vulnerable to cruel jokes and demands.
History:
Kiku’s life before becoming a healer is shrouded in secrecy. It is understood that he was raised with his younger siblings by his older brother Wang Yao. This was due to the mysterious disappearance of their parent’s years ago, which Kiku dislikes to talk about. Although his brother did as a best a job as he possibly could by raising Kiku and his siblings, Kiku is somewhat distant from the rest of his family, often not acknowledging that he has one.
Although Kiku comes across as preferring to travel on his own, he in fact loves spending time with others and much prefers travelling with company. He finds it difficult to make friends due to his quiet nature - but once he has made a friend, he is not likely to let go of that friendship easily.
Kiku is skilled in his abilities. Not only is he a brilliant battle strategist he is also a powerful healer and spell caster. Due to his extensive travelling Kiku has learnt many rare and unheard of spells, useful in many situations. Although Kiku is not a fighter per se, he is skilled with the katana - a traditional Japanese weapon.
There are rumours that Kiku is searching for his missing parents, determined to uncover the mystery of their disappearance. Others say that he is merely looking to form friendships. Whatever the truth, it is evident that Kiku is a valuable ally and a wise and true friend to have behind you.
Sample Post:
The marketplace was extremely crowded. In fact it was probably the most crowed market place Kiku had visited on his travels and he had seen a fair few. There were stalls all over the place with merchants selling everything from food to clothes to spells. If his brother Yao has been playing Kiku could easily imagine him behind one of the stalls, calling out to customers. However, Kiku was not at the bazaar for goods, he was there for information. Besides, he had enough of all that was necessary considering he was currently travelling alone.
Kiku began to make his way through the throng of people; it was an incredibly difficult task as there were no members of authority to direct the travellers into some sense of order. The smells were delicious; sweet and spicy scents wafting through the air which reminded Kiku of home. Shaking off the nostalgic feeling he spotted his destination. A small wooden hut that was seemingly being avoid by the passers by. It was here that Kiku had been told to meet a mystery informant who could help him in his quest.
As he crossed the street to get to the wooden shack he heard a shout to his left. Allowing his senses to take control, Kiku stepped backwards just in time for a man - who was being chased by several others - to dash past, grab hold of a lamppost, spin himself around it and land his feet into one of his pursuers chest. The attacker groaned loudly and doubled up in pain, a hand to his ribcage.
The crowd scattered away from the brawl but Kiku stood stunned as he watched the man - who judging by his attire was a Knight - throw his fist into another attacker jaw and spin kick a second in the stomach, winding him.
“Behind you!” Kiku cried out in a rare moment of emotion as a giant of a man made a dirty advance towards the Knight from behind.
The Knight ducked and with surprising strength for someone of his size flipped the giant over onto his back. He span around and pointed a finger accusingly at the others, grinning widely. “That’s what you get when you mess with me! Now get out of here and don’t come back!”
The remaining assailants picked themselves up a hurried off away from the market, soon becoming untraceable in the crowd. The Knight then turned to Kiku - still grinning - and regarded him for a moment. Kiku could feel his heart pounding in his chest, was he going to receive the same treatment as the brutish men the Knight had beaten just moments before? His fingers tightened around his staff - just in case - as the man thrust out his hand.
“Alfred F. Jones, Nice to meet cha’.” His grin, like liquid sunshine widened. “Thanks for helping me out back there buddy.”
Kiku reached out a shook it tentatively. “Honda Kiku. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
The man named Alfred laughed loudly, a booming laugh that reminded Kiku of all that was good in the world. “So you alone?”
Kiku nodded.
“Great!” Alfred cocked an eyebrow. “Wanna’ join my party?” Noticing Kiku’s shocked reaction his raised his hands, palm facing forwards. “I mean you don’t have ta’, just an’ offer . . . I mean, you could be real useful.” He petered off becoming less confident and Kiku’s face fell into one of consideration.
Company? Someone wanted him to join them? He glanced over towards the wooden hut where he should be meeting mystery informant to help him continue his quest. He moved his gaze to the tall Knight in front of him, offering him friendship and companionship . . .
Kiku’s mouthed twitched upwards into a small smile. His quest would still be there; perhaps he would have even better luck being part of a group. “I’d be happy to join you.”
Notes
This is my first time applying to an RP role. *is nervous* I've never RP'd before either so I hope that this application is good enough to be accepted. I threw Alfred in there as well because I’ve always liked the friendship of America and Japan. Britannia Beam?
